Human TREM1 Gene Overview
| Gene Name | triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells 1 |
|---|---|
| Gene Symbol | TREM1 |
| Synonyms | CD354,TREM-1 |
| NCBI ID | 54210 |
| Ensembl ID | ENSG00000124731 |
| Uniprot ID | Q9NP99 |
| Gene Type | Protein coding |
Gene Summary
This gene encodes a receptor belonging to the Ig superfamily that is expressed on myeloid cells. This protein amplifies neutrophil and monocyte-mediated inflammatory responses triggered by bacterial and fungal infections by stimulating release of pro-inflammatory chemokines and cytokines, as well as increased surface expression of cell activation markers. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been noted for this gene.[provided by RefSeq, Jun 2011]

| Synonyms | |
| NCBI ID | 58217 |
| Ensembl ID | ENSMUSG00000042265 |
| Uniprot ID | Q9JKE2 |
| Gene Type | Protein coding |
Gene Summary
Predicted to enable receptor decoy activity; scaffold protein binding activity; and transmembrane signaling receptor activity. Acts upstream of or within neutrophil chemotaxis; neutrophil extravasation; and neutrophil-mediated killing of gram-negative bacterium. Predicted to be located in plasma membrane. Predicted to be active in cell surface and extracellular space. Is expressed in bladder and renal vasculature. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in bacterial pneumonia; bacterial sepsis; malaria; and myocardial infarction. Orthologous to human TREM1 (triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells 1).
